The Ministry

Homeless Ministry

-saturday
We meet on Saturday mornings at Crossroads UMC  to provide a meal and a time of peace to all who are homeless or poor.

After breakfast we celebrate God with an outdoor worship service including a time of music, teaching, communion and prayer.

During this gathering we also help with other needs like blankets, sack lunches, hygiene kits, socks, assistance with ID and pharmacy scripts.

- weekdays
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we prepare 125 meals and deliver them throughout the community. We also provide other needed services such as counseling, rehab referrals, and sober living house sponsorships.

Belarusian Ministry

-New Thing
New Thing is a ministry focused on Belarus (former USSR), known as the “last dictatorship in Europe.” Doug Brendel and other volunteers minister the compassion of Christ across Belarus, and Doug’s creative Bible-teaching books and videos are released in Russian throughout the nation. Doug is also active in ministry in the English-speaking world.

-Otklik
Otklik is Russian for “response of the heart.” This Belarusian charity organizes support for 75 orphanages, hospitals, prisons, senior citizens’ homes, and other institutions across Belarus. Headed by a resourceful woman we call “The Great Kozovaya,” Otklik gives us access to a country that would otherwise be difficult to minister in.

-Zhodino Shelter
Zhodino is a town about an hour north of Minsk, the Belarusian capital. There’s a shelter for abused and abandoned children there, and our Prodigal’s Home congregation of the homeless and urban poor give 100% of their weekly offerings in support of the staff at this shelter. Prodigal’s founder Mike Ricker has spent extensive time as a volunteer there. Our hearts are there. And you’re invited!
