Silence no more!
Can you believe it is the end of March? Where has the time gone? Where has Prodigal’s Home been? What have we been up to since the last e-mail you received on December 27th?
Mike is juggling helping to remodel the house along with continuing to operate Crash of Rhinos Painting, our livelihood. He is putting in 12-hour days and comes home exhausted…so that is where I come in…
The permits from the City of Phoenix were obtained the first week of January, and work on the Prodigal’s House in Sunnyslope has been non-stop since.
We are settling in to our new Saturday morning home at New Hope Family Church in Sunnyslope, and we are ecstatic to see so many faces we haven’t seen in a while due to our stay at our previous host church. It is exciting to catch up and minister once more to those we left behind. We are meeting many new friends and families too. We have had no shortage of servers and are thrilled with the many churches represented, who, come to help out each week.
We thank God, and we thank you– our regular contributors, servers, and prayers. Without you, Prodigal’s Home would not be in the position to serve the many who are in need in Sunnyslope.
There is a building excitement (no pun intended) in the air due to our returning and because of the activity at Prodigal’s House! Our tentative date to open the house is Easter weekend! We’ll celebrate the Lord’s Resurrection and the resurrection of a house once dead and come to life once more. Continue to pray that no major glitches occur so we can open this Easter!
Now for a personal story about someone Prodigal’s Home helped out almost 4 years ago…
His name is Gery Don Bruce. If you’ve tracked with us for quite some time now, you might remember the story of his bicycle accident and subsequent neck injury. While lying in the hospital bed, he asked if God could forgive him for all he had done…and that started him on the road to redemption. He surrendered to the US Marshals, did some time in a federal holding facility in Florence until the Feds extradited him to Texas. Well, we spoke with him last week after he called us, and he said he was waiting for the final release paperwork, and once he received the paperwork, he was moving to Georgia to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren! Needless to say, we were moved to tears. We are thankful we can lift our voice with Gery’s to God in praise and thanksgiving for God’s unfailing, unending grace!
God is good! He does hear the cry of the poor! He brings people like me and you together to deliver the message of hope using our hands, feet, and voices. He calls us to action, and we have answered and continue to answer His call.
Peace be with you,
Kim
