Thanksgiving! Really?… Really?

Cody and Cynthia flew back to New Jersey to spend Thanksgiving with family and friends.

Scott is going to have plenty of turkey and stuffing with his children and grandchildren today here in Phoenix.

Not a big deal, really.  Hundreds of millions of us will be doing the same.

Except it is a big deal.

Cody and Cynthia have been clean and sober for nearly two years after asking for help in getting off meth and off the streets. We responded by sponsoring them in a rehab facility and helping them along the way. Cody has been working full-time for over 18 months and Cynthia has been working part-time and will start back in school soon. And now… they pay for their own apartment, their own food, and they paid for their own plane tickets.  You can read about my first note to you about Cody and Cynthia by clicking here.

It was nearly the same time as Cody and Cynthia that I first wrote you about Scott.  ”Gray Hair Scotty” as he was known was really a piece of work. You most recently heard about Scott in the “Loving the Invisible Man” update.  He’s now been clean-and-sober for over four months… the longest in over two decades.

Scott, while searching daily, was having a very difficult time finding work.  He hadn’t worked in over ten years so his resume’ is… well.. a little thin.

Scott got a call from Cody two weeks ago.  Cody made the decision he wants to help others get off the street and stay clean-and-sober.  The way he can help is by giving a person a job.

And so he helped Scott get a job where he works.  And Scott just finished his second full week of full-time work.

Scott, Cody, and Cynthia used to help each other find and use meth together. Now they’re helping each other in different and more helpful ways.

If you hadn’t helped us in years past we wouldn’t have been able to help Cody and Cynthia… and now that help is paying off as Cody is helping others.

So as Cody, Cynthia and Scott spend this Thanksgiving with family and friends I know they are thankful.  Really thankful.

And I want you to know how thankful Kim and I are for each one of you who believe in us and the mission of Prodigal’s Home.

You are a great gift to me and all those you have helped.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Grace & Peace,

Mike
